The Carnegie Legacy

Between 1883 and 1929, Andrew Carnegie funded 2,509 libraries worldwide, including:

  • 1,679 in the United States
  • 828 in the United Kingdom and Ireland
  • 156 in Canada (111 in Ontario alone)

Today, many of these buildings face uncertain futures. Some continue as libraries, while others have been thoughtfully repurposed. The Carnegie Owners Club exists to ensure these architectural treasures thrive for another century.

About the Founder

The Carnegie Owners Club was founded by the Forest Carnegie Library Event Centre in Forest, Ontario, Canada. Built in 1912, our Carnegie library served the community for decades before being thoughtfully transformed into a premier event venue.

We created this club because we believe in the power of community - just as Andrew Carnegie did. By connecting Carnegie building owners across North America, we can ensure these architectural treasures continue to serve communities for generations to come.
